The club was founded as the McDonnell Coin and Stamp Club in 1950. It is company sponsored, primarily for employees, retirees, and their families. Some members are more interested in coins and some in stamps and some collect both.
Regular meeting announcements inform members of club business, upcoming meeting plans, and upcoming coin and stamp shows in the St. Louis area. Meetings are informal and many include a small auction of items from members' collections. Some meetings feature a slide program from the American Numismatic Association (coins) or the American Topical Association (stamps). Other meetings feature "show and tell" programs or more extensive programs given by a member.
There is usually one meeting a year devoted to an auction of better material and the club sometimes buys small collections which are then divided and auctioned at club meetings. |
